MSNBC show "The ED Show"

On April 1st, 2009 ED Schultz was announced the new 6pm (3pm in California) host on MSNBC. MSNBC has been increasingly liberal, but all that matters are the ratings. Currently, in the first quarter of 2009 MSNBC beat CNN for second place. Now it's up to schutz's new show to keep the momentum going. The premier show did will gaining over 700,000 viewerships, enough for third place. However throughout the month of April the show steadily declined. The second episode was over 600,000 and the third over 500,000. The low point was when the show was getting beat once by Headline News. At this point the ED show was reaching the same ratings as the show it replaced, 1600 w/ David Shuster. Now the format of the ED show is great, i personally like it. He starts off like Bill O'Reilly, with an opiniated first half. Then gets into the issues and finishes off with a panel of three people. I especially like the "Psycho talk" segments. But the show will not last unless it starts gaining in the ratings. Recently there was a glimmer of hope. On Friday, April 24 the ED show beat CNN's situaton room for the first time, but barely (552,000 for MSNBC, 540,000 for CNN). However the bright side to all this, the show is picking up! The recent ratings have shown increases, this past tuesday the show garnered a little over 600,000 viewers, and continues to grow. Hopefully the show will grow, because it really is a great show!
